I was introduced to Reggae culture and music by a wonderful woman whom I met during my Miami Life Part 1.
Pamela Darlene Reid is from North Carolina, yet she has the soul and spirit of a true-blue Caribbean Queen.
I have always loved African/Caribbean Rhythms and dancers Katherine Dunham and Pearl Primus, both cultural anthropologists were dancers whose work I admired and emulated.
When I met Pamela, she had just moved back to the states from a long stay in Jamaica and every word she spoke was flavored with the proud accent of someone who knew who they were.
She sang Reggae songs, taught (and still teaches) Reggae dance and made wonderful Jamaica meals for her family and friends. She always accepted me in all my quirkiness, and we remain connected today. I am proud to call her my friend and right now I am holding her in my heart as she has suffered tremendous loss in her life. I just want her to know that my life is better because of our enduring friendship.
